Having pets to provide us company is what we want. Moreover, aside from the company they give us, there is still more to it. We want to have good friends so we own a pet. It is significant to communicate well to each other to be called good friends.
No matter how cute the puppy is, there are really times when they make you irritated. Their actions are sometimes odd that makes you wonder what they are communicating to you. Confusion begins when you cannot decipher what they want to say to you. Even if you and your puppy do not have the same way of communication, it is still possible to understand each other. To everyone’s surprise, you can understand what your puppy is saying in some ways. The actions of your puppy will define its words.
The following are essential actions of your puppy which may mean something.
One of the most common is the barking of your puppy. Of course, it is a puppy, so barking is usual. Despite being common, you must not just ignore it. When it barks, it is starting to communicate with you. It may be barking because it wants to capture your attention to be attentive! Hunger is also a reason for barking so it can have some food from you. Or perhaps it wants to play so it barks at you. To know the difference, you may check if you have already fed it to rule out hunger as a cause. If your puppy barks at someone else, it just means they perceive that person as an opponent.
Moving away its head from your hand is a tendency for a puppy when you tap his head. Your puppy feels being dominated by you when he does such actions. It is better if you stroke its side of the face to show affection to it.
Nipping is another common action. This is a normal behavior of your puppy and it does not mean aggression. During the growth of a puppy’s teeth, it is hurting and that is why it nips. But, take note that this should not be tolerated and that you should discipline it.
Being protective of its possessions is also a behavior of a puppy. When a puppy tries to be protective of its toys, it just mean it shows ownership and is keeping it safe.
